Vedas : An ancient sacred Text

Vedas is an old ritual text which is written in an old script " Vedic Sanskrit " . It is a sacred text in hinduism which originated in ancient India . Vedas means Knowledge or wisdom . Vedas are also consider " Shruti " means What is heard . According to orthodox Indian theologian , Vedas was written by ancient sages after extreme meditation .
Vedas have also influenced on Buddhism , Jainism , Sikhism . According to mahabharata epic , vedas are credited to Brahma . Vedas are extremely important for Proto Indo European Languages for Linguistic research

There are four Vedas :-

1. Rigveda 
2. Yajurveda
3. Samaveda
4. Atharvaveda   


Each vedas are subdivided into four major text :-

1. Samhitas ( mantras & benediction )
2. Aranyakas ( ritual texts , ceremonies , sacrifices )
3. Brahmanas ( commentary on rituals , sacrifices , ceremonies )
4. Upanishad ( Meditation texts , philosophy , spiritual knowledge )

Vedas derived from sanskrit root word " vid " means to know . Vedas are among the oldest sacred texts .
